Last year, whilst on a holiday playscheme on the Elsdale barge, Purva came up with her eye-catching design based on traditional boat pennants combined with unique features of Elsdale. Purva said “I was inspired by the orange life ring and the cheerful atmosphere on board". Her classmates in Year 4 were treated to a free trip as the prize!

A wholly owned subsidiary of Groundwork Thames Valley, they are also linked with the environmental charity Arocha. Revenue from corporate and party bookings, together with funding from the Heritage Lottery subsidises trips to make them affordable for schools. Pupils discover and investigate their local environment and heritage whilst enjoying a cruise on the Grand Union Canal.

West London Floating Classroom's next competition is to design a model boat cabin, for display in the London Canal Museum!

For more information see www.elsdale.co.uk... - you could win a trip on board next time....

Editors note: Well done Purva, we at CanalCuttings don't think luck came in to the equation, you are a very talented young person. Best wishes for the rest of your schooling.
