Warwick (pronounced WORR-ik with a silent w in the middle) is the county town of Warwickshire, England. The town lies upon the River Avon, 18 km (11 miles) south of Coventry and 4 km (2.5 miles) west of Leamington Spa (although the towns are conjoined). The Grand Union Canal (GUC) passes around the north side of central Warwick, so if you wish to visit the town centre, it is best to approach the town centre from bridge 49. A walk to the south on Coventry Road for around half a mile, onward to the right to Smith Street, Jury Street and High Street is the shortest route. We were moored just passed Kate Boats by bridge 49 and found a bus stop about 100m south of the bridge on Spinney Hill where the No.16 Coventry to Stratford-on-Avon service stops: Mon - Fri a 10 minute bus ride towards Warwick / Stratford-on-Avon - Times: 09.41, 10.26, 11.26, 12.26, 13.26, 14.26, 15.52, 16.44, 17.42 and 18.42 / back 10.42, 11.37, 12.37, 13.42, 14.37, 15.54, 16.39 and 17.42 / There is a Saturday service but no Sunday service.
