Our tripboats do an amazing number of cruises. Here I only mention the special ones. To see the full list, see our Events Calendar – the cruises are in pink.
John Varley will be running an Armed Forces Day cruise, with meal, on June 24th and other full length trips on June 14th and July 12th. Its Monday Lock Keeper cruises and its Wednesday Summertime Sailings continue.
There will be walk-up trips on Madeline and/or John Varley every day in the school May half-term.
Madeline starts its Wednesday afternoon Cream Tea cruises on 7th June.
Seth Ellis will be doing trips from Retford Town Lock on June 17th and from the Gate Inn at Clarborough on June 3rd & 4th.
Talk at Brimington
John Lower will give a talk about the canal on June 16th at Brimington Community Centre, Heywood Street, Brimington, Chesterfield, S43 1DB, starting at 7.30 p.m. All welcome.
Volunteers needed for canal clearance in Derbyshire
DCC Rangers need help with clearing reeds for our tripboats on 7th June and pulling Himalayan Balsam on 24th June. See attached.
Supporters Group Meeting
Our next meeting will be on July 11th at the Speedwell Inn, Lowgates, Staveley, S43 3TT. There will be a tour of the micro-brewery at 7.30 p.m. All welcome.

You may remember that Roy Stringer, a member of our Work Party, published a book a couple of years ago. He’s now written another. There are alleged references to some members of the Work Party. Buy it from Amazon and see for yourself.
It’s mostly birds this month, with a few flies and a bit of garlic.
