White Mills Marina celebrates bridge opening
Villagers from Earls Barton in Northamptonshire celebrated the opening of the new White Mills Marina bridge on Friday 5th August.
And when former Chairman of Earls Barton Parish Council Martin Cahill cut the ribbon it not only marked the opening of the new bridge but also the reopening of the popular Nene Way footpath which had been closed during the development of the River Nene’s newest marina.
Children, dogs, walkers and boaters gathered together to be amongst the first to walk over the bridge, whilst Roger Funrevall on nb Charlie Beere steered his boat under it to allow photographer Charlie Ward to capture the occasion on camera.
John Skinner of White Mills Marina said, “We are thrilled that the bridge is now open and that Martin agreed to officiate. He has been a very keen supporter of the marina from the very start, we are now looking forward to seeing the Nene Way being well used once again.”
With floating pontoons, White Mills Marina which officially opened for business at the beginning of April this year is capable of accommodating 141 boats including wide beams, narrowboats and cruisers and offers all the facilities you would expect from a modern marina.
