Tug Front Narrowboat For Sale

Tebay was built by Yarwoods for use on the BCN, number 1565. Gauged at Tipton in October 1929. I bought her in 1987 from Matty Yard at Coseley. Tony Gregory, FMC boat owner, hauled her out and into his steel fabrication shop in Walsall. Here we cut out the bottom, re footed and re bottomed her in 3/8" steel. New decks and a new stern were also added. A 30 foot cabin was built with 5 ports, a FMC style engine room ventilator and a large glazed pigeon box over the saloon.

Under the fully lined and insulated front deck is a insulated hot water cylinder, 100 gallon insulated freshwater tank Sureflow pump and a pair of solid wood 3 drawer chests.

Steps up to a pair of front doors with slide.

In the 6.25ft bow deck is the self draining gas locker with 4 short propane gas bottles.

Tebay normally cruises at 4mph at around 400rpm and the Kelvin uses about 1 litre of diesel per hour of cruising.

I will be sad to see her go after 25 years of ownership, but she needs to be used and enjoyed more than she has been.

In 2010 she was lifted out for a very through angle grinder wire brushing and 4 coats of bitumastic. She has a BSS cert. till November 2013, and is current on a very rural mooring near Market Drayton on the Shropshire Union, with the BW licence newly paid up.
