Napton Narrowboats
Napton Narrowboats, Napton Marina, Stockton, Southam, Warwickshire CV47 8HX
We visited Napton Marina, Stockton, Warwickshire, just west of Napton Junction
by bridge #109 for our monthly services of pump-out and fuel top-up and found
a really cheerful and helpful crew manning a tidy marina. Just reverse in to
a pontoon (close to the fuel pump) for either service and call in to the office.
Whilst cruising on the
Oxford Canal from Oxford to Coventry through the GUC leg we saw many of Napton
Narrowboats' holiday hire fleet. Their boats looked immaculately turned out with
many boats having a distinctive cruiser stern with parallel bench seating. Some
of the fleet have the 'Targa' sunroof over the saloon, something we might consider
in our next narrowboat build.
Napton is an ideal starting point for many holiday
cruise rings: The Avon Ring [109m/131l], Thames Ring [252m/175l], Warwickshire
Ring [100m/94l], Leicester (GUC) and River Soar Ring [160m/104l].
Napton Narrowboats has a second English base at Autherley Junction on the
Shropshire Union Canal giving easy access to Four Counties [110m/94l] and Cheshire
[96m/92l] Rings and a sister company in France Minervois Cruisers has two bases;
at Meilhan (from 2009 season) on the Canal de Garonne and Le Somail on the Canal
du Midi.
