Overwater Marina, Near Audlem, Shropshire Union Canal, Cheshire.

The OverWater Marina is on the Shropshire Union Canal ia a Cheshire farmland setting, situated close to the River Weaver valley and around a 15 minute walk from the historic canal village of Audlem.

Audlem is famous for the 15 locks, Shroppie Fly pub and Audlem Mill. Audlem is well kept canalside village with a range of shops, cafes and pubs.

Cruising from the Overwater Marina will give you access to the four counties cruising ring and is about four hours cruising time from the picturesque Llangollen Canal which gives access to the Montgomery canal, around 20 hours cruising from the Marina. The Trent and Mersey Canal to the north can be reached via the Middlewich Branch within approximately 10 hours cruising. The Staffordshire and Worcester Canal is joined at Autherley Junction, to the south, about 20 hours cruising.

The Overwater Marina is a new marina project is partly financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The EU investing in rural areas, delivered through the Northwest Development Agency and DEFRA.

Overwater Marina will it's said be delivering facilities which will include: secure moorings, electricity to all berths, Water to each jetty, car parking close to berths, gas, diesel and pump out, launderette, toilets and showers in a purpose built reception building, Elsan disposal facilities, shop and tea rooms, Wifi throughout the marina, boat repairs and maintenance on site, a slipway.

From what we could see Overwater Marina will have a lakeland style layout. The facilities building and workshop are being be located to the south of the site with an area for fueling and pump out.

We counted 13 separate pontoon areas which can accommodate craft between 45ft and 70ft on single and double moorings.

The "OverWater" name apparently comes from the original name of Monks Hall Farm, which, until around a century ago was called "Over the Water Farm" as the farm can only be reached by crossing the canal, the River Weaver or the Spinnaker Brook.

Provisional Mooring Rates (2010) for 45ft, 50ft, 60ft and 70' jetties are available at the following prices: 45ft (14m) @ £1577.34 ex VAT/annum - 50ft (15m) @ £1752.60 ex VAT/annum - 60ft (18m) @ £2103.12 ex VAT/annum - 70ft (21m) @ £2453.64 ex VAT/annum [Maximum overhang 1m (3ft, 3in)]

6 monthly mooring fees (calculated at 60% of the annual rate) and 3 monthly mooring fees (calculated at 30% of the annual rate) are subject to availability.

All mooring fees (except visitor moorings) include wifi access and electricity standing charges.

All bookings require a £500 non-refundable deposit which will be subtracted from the first year's mooring fees.

Visitor moorings: £10/night (plus VAT) (Wifi access may be purchased from reception).

The Shropshire Union Canal is a narrowbeam canal however Overwater Marina are able to accommodate widebeam craft within the marina itself subject to jetty availability (a surcharge will apply).
