Lough Derg Boat Hire

HOSEASONS PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE

Lough Derg boat hire is available at the Portumna boat hire centre. Hoseasons can offer hire with Emerald Star at the northern tip of Lough Derg. Lough Derg is an enormous lake 18km wide at its widest and 40km long.

As you head southwards there are plenty of moorings that will give you a delightful stopover. Dromineer, Garrykennedy, Mountshannon or Terryglass are highly recommended. Should you navigate northwards past Banagher you will be enthralled by the county seat of Athlone.

Lough Derg is surrounded by picturesque views of lush green hills and countryside.

Suggested 2 weeks round trip - Cruising southwards on Lough Derg. Portumna to Terryglass (about 1 hour) to Kilgarvan (about 1 hour) to Dromineer (about 1 hour) to Garrykennedy (about 1 hours) to Killaloe (about 2 hours) to Scarrif (about 2 hours) to Mountshannon (about 1 hour) to Williamstown Harbour (about 1 hour) to Rossmore (about 1 hour). Return to Portumna (about 2 hours) Cruising 112km over 13 hours without any locks.

Suggested 2 weeks round trip - Cruising northwards on The Lower Shannon and Lough Ree. Portumna to Banagher (about 3 hours) to Shannonbridge (about 2 hours) to Athlone (about 2 hours) to Lanesborough (about 4 hours) to Tarmonbarry (about 1 hour) to Roosky (about 1 hour). Return to Portumna (about 13 hours) Cruising 290km over 26 hours, 8 locks and 2 lift bridges.

Suggested 1 week one way cruise Portumna to Carrick-on-Shannon. Cruising over 160km, 20 hours, 5 locks and 2 lift bridges.
