Four Counties Ring (Anti Clockwise)
- Staffs and Worcester Canal - Part 2 of the section between Autherly Junction and Great Heywood
Gailey to Teddersley Boat Yard
North of Gailey Locks the Staffs and Worcester Canal goes through pleasant countryside and after a couple of locks, along side the M6 north bound carriageway for about half a mile, where on a Friday evening you can be moving faster than the traffic!
After another lock you pass Otherton Boat Haven, with moorings for over seventy craft.
Penkridge by 'Toms' Boatyard and Moorings

You are now heading into Penkridge. For the anglers amongst you – there is ‘Ian’s’ bait and tackle shop about three hundred meters from the next bridge, on Boscomoor Lane west of the bridge. The popular market town of Penkridge is half a mile north of here. With its twice weekly markets and good shopping, accessible from bridge #86, not to mention a couple of good pubs, making this a popular boater’s stopover. The Cross Keys is a homely pub with a canal side patio, with lock gate benches abutting the towpath. Further up the canal ‘The Boat’ at the other side of ‘Tom’s Boatyard’ and Penkridge Lock is a much bigger pub with more of a car park feel to the alfresco area. Both have popular short term moorings close by so get there early! The Boat has a great value 2 for 1 menu on Monday through Friday.
The Boat Public House

Leaving Penkridge you are once again in rural Staffordshire, a mile or so later going under the M6 motorway. Another mile or so further you pass close to Teddesley Park Estate and son pass by Teddesley Boats, Hire and boatyard. The Midlands Chandlery is right next door adjacent to the Park Gate Lock.
