Vintage Canal Boat pull by the Premier Foods Knighton Senior Team

The Chairman at Premier Foods has challenged each of the Premier Foods fact ories to raise £5,000 this year for Cancer Research UK.

Several fund raising events have been going on throughout Knighton Factory but the Senior Team have volunteered to pull a vintage canal boat along the Shropshire Union Canal from Cadbury's Bournville factory back to Knighton, (MAP) thus replicating the original method of transport used (in reverse) to move sugar and cocoa between the two factories. These canal boats were used right up until the 1960’s.

Our 10 Senior Team members will work in teams of 3 (one resting, one walking and the other pulling) with the 10th person steering the boat. They plan to do this over a three day period.

They aim to reach Knighton by 5.00pm on the Saturday. If you wish to join us up at the social club there will be a BBQ available to welcome them all back.

NOW THE PART WHERE YOU CAN WIN £100

One of the walking team members will be wearing a pedometer during the journey. For a £1.00 entry fee you can have a go at guessing the number of steps taken along this 40 mile route. If there is more than one winner the prize money will be shared equally.

There is no limit to the number of guesses you have.
