Narrowboat Ceramics by Nicola Hulme - Bringing Narrowboats and Ceramics Together

Narrowboat Ceramics are a Stoke-on-Trent based company. The pottery is in Fenton, just a short stroll away from the picturesque Caldon Canal or Trent and Mersey Canal.

Salt & Pepper in Traditional Rose and Castle Designs by Narrowboat Ceramics by Nicola Hulme - Bringing Narrowboats and Ceramics Together

Narrowboat Ceramics uses small independent pottery makers in Stoke, so wherever you see the Union Flag on their decorative ware, you can be sure it's a genuine piece of Staffordshire pottery.

Narrowboat Ceramics are a Stoke-on-Trent based company. The pottery is in Fenton, just a short stroll away from the picturesque Caldon Canal. Narrowboat Ceramics is the brainchild of Potteries designer-maker Nicola J Hulme.  She’s blended the traditional with the modern to create a fabulous range of fine china mugs, teaware and gifts. The notable difference here that it’s not hand-painted ‘canalware', but high quality bone china with the designs fired into the glaze, making them durable and permanent.

One of the latest additions to the catalogue is a limited edition Tom Rolt Commemorative china mug to commemorate the Tom Rolt centenary in 2010.

Limited edition Tom Rolt Commemorative china mug to commemorate the Tom Rolt centenary in 2010. Narrowboat Ceramics has produced a limited edition mug featuring the great man himself. Sonia Rolt herself supplied the image from her archive and Narrowboat Ceramics transferred it onto a bone china mug, first seen at Crick in May of this year. With a portion of the proceeds going to the Chester & District branch of the IWA, the Tom Rolt mugs were also showcased at the Chester, Foxton and Beale IWA events. The mug will be available until stocks last and can be purchased online at www.narrowboatceramics.co.uk for just £4.95 plus p+p.

Where possible Narrowboat Ceramics decorates ware manufactured by small independent pottery makers in Stoke-on-Trent and offers tableware designed with a traditional style roses design that looks discreet and tasteful; discreet enough to sit proudly on almost any dining table, not simply stood up on dressers for display.
