The Pirate Castle, Camden Lock - Gilbey's Wharf
The Pirate Castle NW1, near Camden Lock on Oval Road is the home of the Pirate
Club, a canal-based youth club in Camden, London.
The Pirate Castle, Camden Lock mainly provide activities and facilities to the local community but are
available to visiting groups from further afield.
The Pirate Club
The Pirate Club provides canoeing, kayaking and other adventure sports for
young people and adults of all ages and abilities. The Pirate Club hosts a youth
kayak club and adult canoe and kayak club sessions three times a week and family
sessions for kayaking and canal boat tours over the summer period throughout
June and July. The kayak & canoe club is open to children and adults of
all abilities - go and join in the fun and learn new skills too!
Pirate Castle Narrowboating

trips too.
Canal narrowboats Pride of Sandwell and Pirate Viscount offer a memorable
experience for youth groups, schools, community groups and families. Boating
is fun for all ages and can be enjoyable at any time of year.
Narrowboat Accommodation in London - The Pirate Castle offers an unusual setting
for overnight sleeping for 12 in Central London
as well as London narrowboat canal cruises and canal boat trips specially tailored
for school groups, community groups, private hire and business/corporate events
etc.
You can work the locks, steer the boat or just watch the world go by. The
boats provide a controlled area, but with plenty of activity and an ever changing
setting. For your safety, all trips are accompanied by an experienced and friendly
skipper on half day trips, full day cruises or evening jaunts. Longer trips are
available as well as all of The Pirate Club's boats are licenced to carry up
to twelve passengers, including group leaders.

Adventure
sports and outdoor activities for school groups. Outdoor Education for Schools & Youth
Services at the Pirate Castle; offer young people the opportunity to develop
new skills and interests by participating in adventurous activities. Through
these activities students can develop their ability to respond effectively to
problems and physical challenges, both individually and as part of a team. Activities
complement key stage learning in the four main areas of development: Acquisition
of new skills; Selection and application of skills and tactics; Evaluation and
improved performance; Knowledge and understanding of fitness principles, as well
as motivation of team members and respect of peers.

Rock Climbing (day or residential trip); Bell Boating Mountaineering (residential
trip); Team-Development workshops Residential Holiday Package GCSE PE Narrow

Pirate Castle Venue For Hire
The Pirate Castle, Camden Lock offers a unique
and fully accessible canalside venue near the centre of Camden Town, recently
refurbished and has excellent accessibility and facilities including a lift,
induction loop and accessible toilets on the basement and street levels.
Pirate Castle contains different spaces that are available for use by a wide
variety of groups: Main Hall - Club Room - Meeting Room - Kitchen; Only 200 yards
from Camden Lock and less than five minutes from Camden Town Tube station, the
Pirate Castle could be the perfect central London location for everything!
Spaces for private events including meetings, conferences, children’s
(and adult’s) parties and any other events you need a venue for. All money
raised from these bookings goes toward their charitable aims.
The Pirate Castle Main Hall: Seated capacity of 70+ or a party capacity
of up to 150; Panoramic window overlooking the picturesque Regent’s Canal;
Large amounts of natural light from the large window and two massive sky lights;
Professional standard catering kitchen included in price; Tables, chairs (and
a few sofas) included in price; Acoustic screen that pulls across the window
and an Air Handling Unit to keep the room at an optimum temperature; Extras at
an additional cost: Flipchart, Projector and screen, Hot and Cold drinks.
The Pirate Castle Club Room: This is the room where youth activities and where
Pirate Club members chill after being out on the water. It is about half the
size of the Main Hall, and while it is not as ‘plush’ it is very
welcoming and cosy. Perfect for smaller meetings, especially those where you
might fancy a game of Pool or Table Tennis afterwards! Facilities include chairs,
tables, sofas and coffee table, Pool table, Table Tennis, IT Suite. Extras at
an additional cost: Flipchart, Projector and screen, Hot and Cold drinks.
The Pirate Castle Meeting Room: A small room on the top floor
with space for meetings for approx 12 people. It has two folding tables and 12
chairs as standard. An advantage of being on the top floor is that you are able
to pop out and enjoy the roof terrace on a nice day! Please be aware that there
is no disability access to this floor.
