The Jack Mytton Inn, Hindford, Shropshire - Llangollen Canal Gains New 'Canal Cruising Guide' Award

The Jack Mytton Inn, Hindford, on the Llangollen Canal has won the “Pub of the Year” award from the Canal Cruising Guide.

Owners Ian and Wendy Spencer-Brown have been running the The Jack Mytton Inn, Hindford for four years and were delighted to win the award. “It’s recognition of all the hard work from our chef and staff who have helped to make the pub a success.” said Ian.

Ian and Wendy pride themselves on offering freshly-prepared meals, using seasonal, local produce together with a choice of real ales. The inn boasts a large canalside garden with its own Spanish-style outside bar and there are extensive customer moorings right outside the pub.

Alan Escott, publisher of the Canal Cruising Guide said,”This is the first time we have run the contest and the award is well-deserved. We received a lot of favourable comments about the Jack Mytton and, when you consider that the guide covers much of the canal network, they were up against some stiff competition.”

The guide, which can be found on almost 900 holiday hire boats, invited its readers to vote for their favourite canalside pub and the Jack Mytton at Hindford topped the poll.

The Canal Cruising Guide is an annual publication and has been published since 2003. Before 2009, it was only seen by holidaymakers but the latest edition was more widely available and included a new section with comprehensive information on boaters’ facilities, pubs, restaurants and shops as well as public transport, doctors, dentists, vets and more.
