The Run-up-To and May Bank Holiday Activities at Gloucester Waterways Museum

Gloucester Waterways Museum kicks off the pre-bank holiday weekend on Saturday 22nd May with a book signing with author D H Clacher.

Gloucester Waterways MuseumA great chance meet the author and get a signed copy of his book Ol’ One Eyes Revenge. The book tells the adventures of an extraordinary narrow boat called Muddy Waters. It is set in well known locations throughout Britain, including Gloucester Docks and features the Severn Bore. There will be a special promotional offer on the series.

Pirate Ship: King Arthur at Gloucester Waterways MuseumOn the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd May the museum will be celebrating with a host of pirate themed activities for children. With a special museum entry price of £2, visitors can step aboard Pirate Ship: King Arthur, enjoy lots of costume fun and join in colourful make-and-take pirate themed workshops and games. Throughout the week thereafter there will be different activities in the museum for children each day. The following bank holiday weekend, 29th and 30th May, the pirate theme will be continued with prizes awarded to adults for the best pirate costume.

Gloucester Waterways MuseumThe Waterways Museum at Gloucester Docks charts the history of the nation’s inland waterways. The museum boasts vibrant interactive displays which brings to life the history of the docks and the nation’s inland waterways. Visitors can also find refreshment in the adjoining Coots Café Bar.

For more information on the museum and the history of the docks, please visit www.nwm.org.uk/gloucester. The museum is open daily from 10.00 to 17.00. Ticket prices are: Adult £4.25, Concession £3.75, child (5-16) £3.25, under 5s free.

45 minute boat trips are available from the museum quay side every weekend.
