On Easter Sunday 4 April, between 3.00pm – 5.00pm, the Waterways Museum Gloucester is running a cruise along the Gloucester & Sharpness canal with Easter cakes and tea and a spot-the-bunny en-route competition. Ticket price also includes entry to the museum and must be booked in advance.

Doreen Davies, General Manager, says “A cruise offers a fantastic alternative option for celebrating Easter and is sure to keep children and adults alike entertained. A great way to start the school holidays.”

The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Gloucester 2009/2010 - Councillor Chris Witts There will also be an egg decoration competition in the museum on Easter Sunday. It will be judged by The Mayor of Gloucester; Chris Witts and prizes awarded for age groups (3-5) (6-8) and (9-11) years.

Between the 2 April and 18 April the museum will be hosting an egg trail and make & take workshop activities.

The Easter Tea Cruise kicks off the start of the new cruise season at the Waterways Museum Gloucester which runs from the start of April each year.

There are ‘carvery lunch cruises’ on 2 May, 4 July, 1 August & 26 September, ‘Tewkesbury all day cruises’ on 22 May & 21 August, ‘Saul Junction tea cruises’ on 23 May, 18 July & 19 September, ‘Sharpness cruises’ on 6 June & 5 September, ‘Tea Cruises’ and ‘Canal Lunch Cruises’ on 9 & 15 June, 13 & 20 July, 10 & 25 August & 22 September, ‘Disco cruises’ on 18 June & 19 July, ‘Father’s day lunch cruise’ on 20 June, ‘Sunset supper cruises’ on 8 July & 19 August, a ‘Jazz cruise’ on 16 July and ‘Santa’s grotto cruises’ and ‘Christmas party lunch cruises’ in December.

King Arthur - April to October Saturdays, Sundays, bank holidays and during school holidays - Departures museum quayside, midday, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

King Arthur has a fully licenced bar onboard and can also be booked for private hire. Pre- booking is required, please phone 01452 318200 or email gloucester@thewaterwaystrust.org.uk.

Inside a boatmans cabinThe Waterways Museum in Gloucester Docks tells the fascinating story of Britain’s waterways and Gloucester’s Docks. Hands-on displays and archive films look at the ingenious engineering and wonderful wildlife of the canals, plus what it was like to live on board a working narrowboat. The Museum is housed in a Grade II Listed warehouse alongside a range of different boats in afloat in the docks, including a trip boat which operates along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.
