Santa On The Cut With The Chesterfield Canal Trust’s Tripboats

Santa was in two places at once on 20th November. The Chesterfield Canal Trust’s tripboats, the Seth Ellis in Retford and the John Varley in Chesterfield, were both launching their Santa Special boat trips.

Santa On The Cut With The Chesterfield Canal Trust’s Tripboats

Santa On The Cut With The Chesterfield Canal Trust’s TripboatsJohn Mann, MP for Bassetlaw, and Cllr. Kenneth Bullivant, Chair of Bassetlaw District Council, were the guests of honour in Retford. They were accompanied along the towpath, by Rudolph!

Meanwhile, Cllr. Keith Morgan, the Mayor of Chesterfield; Toby Perkins, MP for Chesterfield; Natascha Engel, MP for North East Derbyshire; Cllr. Robin Baldry, Chair of Derbyshire County Council and Cllr. Anne Holmes, Chair of North East Derbyshire District Council, had gathered at Tapton Lock in Chesterfield.

All the guests brought other family members including children. They were treated to festive food and hot and cold drinks. As they went on their voyages along the canal, the children took it in turns to visit Santa and all received presents.

For further details about the Retford trips, ring 01246 280660 or email sethellis@chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk. For Chesterfield, ring Tapton Lock Visitor Centre on 01246 551035.

At both venues, all adults get festive food and a drink. All children get a present from Santa. There is a flat fare of £5 which will go towards the restoration of the canal.
