Charity Walk From Ellesmere Port To Birmingham

JOIN A LOCAL FUNDRAISER AS SHE WALKS 83 PICTURESQUE MILES ALONG THE CANALS FROM ELLESMERE PORT TO BIRMINGHAM

Charity Walk From Ellesmere Port To Birmingham

Charity Walk From Ellesmere Port To BirminghamCelia Webber, from Ellesmere Port, is pulling on her walking boots during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) to fundraise for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Celia will be walking 83.3 miles of towpath from Ellesmere Port to Birmingham and some of the way back.

Celia’s ‘Towpath Trundle’ will take place between 17 and 30 October to raise funds and awareness for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a charity dedicated to the prevention, treatment and ultimate eradication of breast cancer.

63 year old Celia will be followed along the way by a crew of merry men on a canal boat generously sponsored by Welsh Gateway Canal Holidays. Like a pink pied piper, she is also encouraging people along the route to don some pink and join in the fun.

The crew, adorned in their finest pink threads, will be fundraising along the way by asking people to donate to collection cans Celia will be carrying.
They will start their Towpath Trundle at 10am sharp every day (except for two days as below) at each of the following locations: Ellesmere Port (17/10), Beeston Brook 107 (18/10 7am), Nantwich Basin (19/10 3:30pm), Audlem Bridge (20/10), Wharf Tavern – Cheswardine (21/10), Brewood Bridge (22/10), Wolverhampton – bridge 7 (23/10), Gas Street Basin (24/10), Black Country Museum (25/10), Oxley Marine – Autherley (26/10), Radford Bridge nr Stafford (27/10), Stone – Star Lock 27 (28/10), Red Bull – Kidsgrove (29/10), Wheelock (30/10), Barbridge ending at Nantwich Basin on 31 October.

Celia says: “Not only have I had breast cancer myself but members of my close family have also battled the disease so it’s a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. I have seen first hand the benefit of Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s work and want to continue to raise vital money whilst having fun and involving other people along the way.”

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, with nearly 46,000 women and around 300 men diagnosed with the disease each year. All the money raised from the event will help Breakthrough Breast Cancer continue to fund groundbreaking research, campaign for better services and treatments and raise awareness of breast cancer. Through this work the charity believes passionately that the disease can be beaten and the fear of breast cancer removed for good.
