Say hello to the cold months...
As the clocks go back, life on the canals changes pace. Falling leaves and swirling mist add a new sort of beauty to life on the water. It's also the time when selling properties and boats slows right down. Who would want to sell at this time of year? Well, maybe you do - if that's the case we are offering a 25% discount on all property and boat adverts until the warm weather returns. Just mention it when placing an advert - which will still be valid right into next year, until the property sells.

Kennet and Avon Boat Recovered
This weekend, after a two week delay, the boat blocking Lock 10 just outside Bath was recovered. The operation did not, in the end, require a massive crane or vast amounts of pumps and flotation devices. "With tuppence for paper and strings", River Canal Rescue (RCR) covered over the water entry points, attached some thin ropes to key points of the boats structure and gently refilled the lock, using the ropes to reposition it as they did so. Within 2 hours (plus some hours planning the previous day) the boat was afloat and the lock open. It is now apparent that the lock could have been cleared the day after the disaster. Questions must now be asked of the C&RT as to why it was not.
